This is a short page about Rudy, my sona/oc. It's still incomplete, and this all may reformat in time, but hopefully it provides a good enough starting point!

an anthropomorphic lynx with gray fur and light brown hair. a headshot shows his green eyes. a full body view shows off seventeenth century dress clothes: a baggu white shirt with a frill on the chest and black high waisted pants. a stick figure diagram at the top shows that he is a good bit taller than the average height.

Design

Rudy is an anthro Canadian lynx that I made to try out drawing anthro characters. He started out without a clear style or story, just a character that I would doodle in my spare time. Because of this, lots of his early depictions have plain, modern clothing. While the version of Rudy that I now consider canon no longer wears things like this, I actually enjoy seeing modern AU designs of him a lot, and encourage people to put him in whatever clothes they like. (I'm also aware it's also much easier to draw a t-shirt lmao.)

Rudy has some traits that usually show up whenever I draw him. Most notably his long hair, big ears, gray fur, and eye makeup/lashes. There's a shape to his hair in all the art I've done that remains fairly consistent, but this is more for simplicity's sake, as I have yet to really delve into learning to draw hair.

I love lynxes so much, and I really wanted to draw their big fuckass ears. The black tufts at the end are the cherry on top- why the hell are these animals so cute? I'm not the greatest at drawing a face/muzzle shape that clearly implies that Rudy is a lynx, so this is the most obvious indicator that saves me. Why you so ears boy wth.

I'm so lucky to have gotten art of Rudy from amazing artists, who have realized him so beautifully. Seeing the more lynx-like elements of him like fur patterning and cheek tufts implimented is awesome as hell, and I've been trying to work this into my doodles more recently. However, I understand patterning is especially difficult and I don't think it's a critical part of his design. One day I'll get the hang of it and the boy will have his spots back.

As I said at the very top, this character is partially a sona and partially an OC. I use him to explore the things that I enjoy, most notably with clothing. I absolutely adore the 17th centurty european style of dress clothes with all of it's flair. Because of that I decided to set Rudy's story in a fantasy world of similar period, so that I could keep exploring that style. Rudy is a he/him character, and typically wears masculine clothing, but this isn't because he dislikes wearing feminine clothing. I assure you I will draw him in a dress at some point! It is instead due to him growing up wearing normative masc clothing, so he now finds familiarity and comfort in the style. His most basic and consistent outfit is a white or off-white dress shirt with frills at the neckline, complimented with high-waisted black pants. Being a digitigrade anthro character, I haven't found a design for shoes that fits the aesthetic. I do believe he would have a coat or jacket to compliment this outfit as well as other accessories, but I've yet to decide on a design. Below you'll see a wonderful full body piece I got that illustrates the entire outfit.

Sorry if this is all too much, I just wanted to quickly make an explainer to send you with all of the references. If you'd like them sent/emailed to you seperately, just let me know. Thank you!
